MR. EDWIN A. TANNER
_The_death occurred suddenly at Dunedin this morning of Mr. Edwin A. Tanner, a well-known Wellington business man who for the last twenty years has been the managing director of the wholesale firm of Tanner Bros., Ltd. Mr. Tanner was born in London 58 years ago, and came out to Australia at the age of IG. Three years later ho came to New Zealand, settling in Wellington, where he and his brother, the late Mr. Frank N. Tanner, founded the business carried on under their nam^. Mr. Tanner had a wide circle of friends, but was very little in the limelight, his only public position being that of assistant secretary of the Wellington Choral Society, an office which he held for 17 years. He was married 33 years ago to Miss Priscilla Collins, of Wellington, and leaves a widow, three sons (Messrs. Edwin F. Tanner, Claude Tanner, the well-known 'cellist, and Lionel F. Tanner, now in London), and a young daughter, Audrey. Messrs. Edwin and Claude Tanner will leave Wellington tonight to attend the funeral in Dunedin.
