A PRACTICAL BIAS

The Minister of Education (tho Hon; E. Masters), speaking at the official opening of' the Shirley Intermediate School, indicated that his Department had already broken away from that tradition; and .without underestimating tho value of and necessity for academic training, was planning to establish a more practical form of. education than New Zealand had previously known. Agriculture, for instance, would be taught in agricultural' districts, and mining in mining districts.
