today. Mr. R;. Wild, spoke of the resumption of the training of teachers, with special reference to the probationary system.'^He thought sail ; the boards were unanimous (that thft" probationer system should not be .abandoned, as.it was a necessary part 'of'1 the teacher's training. The Minister said no decision had been reached, regarding probationer teachers, but it had been discussed by "Cabinet..... In,Engla/hi the probationer isystem, yia.s 'fgpi^g.c^ut gradually, and students were going straight into tiaining college. If that conclusion' were arrived at in New Zealand it would riot be done for financial reasons, but for other .-considerations. . 1
