Very few Rugby football > matches were played in Wellington last season without an accredited member of-. th.c Wellirigton Eugby Referees' Association officiating,, and.that fact is favpurlably commented upon in the"1 association's annual report, which also records with pleasure an increaso in membership. In referring, to tho.increase in the number of matches played;and the likelihood of a further increase, tho .report.states: '.Thus.it must be realised that is .holding, an important position in the realm of Rugby football, and it behoves this association tosee ih at its members are well equip-ped-in the knowledge, of' the rules as, after all, the referee . is. really ' the teacher." During last season the association's active'v membership reached 150, at which the list was closed. Appreciation is expressed in the report of those who helped'the association in various directions, and the hope expressed on behalf-of the executive that the co-operation of members will I)o'retained.
