EMPIRE GAMES
EVENTS FOR WOMEN
_ The British Empire Games authorities have altered their policy of former years and provided events for womeu other than swimming m their progiammo of events for tho coming games in London (states an overseas writer). At the Games in Canada in 1930 women were only allowed to compete in the swimming events. Therowere no athletics on tho piogrammc, but this yearVGam^s will include 100 and 800 yards flat races, 80 j ards hurdles, high jump, broad jump, javelin throw, and two relay races. The intlusion of the 880 yards flat race comes as a surprise in view of the recent controversy m England. Apparently it has been decided that this is a suitable irace- for vvomen, as this raco has also been included m the programme of the Women's World Games, to be held in London later m the year. Only two Australian States include the raco among their titles—Queensland and Now South Wales
