ELVES OF THE RING
There's sea-magic for you tonight . . . the most potent magic of all . . . for it'll'charm you atvay from those you love best, and even if you return you'll feel it drawing you back . . .back
■ ■ You must forget you arc elfin folk tonight, 'cos there's no place for gossamer wings or dancing slippers in the, green, shadowy tvorld below. You must wear fish-tails of silver and learn to trail your locks gracefully ... as sea-weed floats. Then we'll go and listen to the voice of the sea . . . the voice you heard all through holiday-times .. .laughing and chattering to the first sunbeams, chanting dreamily through the summer, afternoons or whispering magical secrets to the moon. Perhaps you'llbe able to understand the words of the sea tonight, and perliaps you'll see themer people trying (but never succeeding) to catch the elusive baby stars that are mirrored in the sea. :
: [Let's [hurry away, and please . . . everyone . . . be very polite to the pirates, 'cos I don't want to see any vacant mushrooms in the Ring next week. And ivhen you are visiting Neptune, will you try' ever'so hard to remember the exact shades of the sea-flowers that sway in hU grottoes of coral . . .-and the green-gold.tints of a mermaid's hair.. ... You'll have to know ivhen you paint the picture for] me! ;■• My love to you. ' ■; :: C v • ■ FAIRIEL. :
