FROM OCEAN DEPTHS

A POSSIBLE MONSTER

EEL LARVA SIX FEET LONG

(From "The Post's" Representative.) ' LONDON, January 19.

Among many strange exhibits .to be found, at. the Marine Biological Laboratory in Copenhagen '(writes tho Copenhagen correspondent of "The Time's"), there is an, eel larva which may possibly , help towards a solution of the Loch Ness mystery. It was brought to -Denmark by the Marine Investigation Expedition .which, under tho leadership of Professor Johannes Schmidt, sailed round tho world in.. 1930 in tho Dana.

This eel larva, now presorved in spirits of iwine, is 184 cm. (just over 6ft) long. It was fished up off tho Capo of Good Hope, and 'from such deep water that it-was dead on arrival at tho surface.

The relevance of .this .eel larva to the Loch Nobs' monster ds that: if its growth had continued in liko • proportion to that of other eel larvae it would eventually reach a total length of from SOft.to 100 ft. 'An ordinary eel larva measures only 2in to 4in. Lik,e other members' of tho eel family, this giant larva possesses a narrow dorsal fin ' along tho back, two breast fin, and, the usual'anal fins. No eel. larva approaching it in size has been found anywhere ,in the world bef 6re; and there is no means of knowing definitely what it would look liko when full-grown. , v
