Lady Ina, winner of the first day's maiden, event atWoodville, was stated to have been bred by Mr. W. R. Kemball. The record shows that Lady Ina's dam (Kakawai) was sold toy Mr. A. Southey, of Masterton, prior .to the foaling, so that Mr. Southey is the official breeder.
The hurdler Gold Knight, who has been off the scene fora few months, has gone into work again at Oamaru, in.preparation for autumn and winter engagements.

The Cauterbmy Jockey Club paid a total of £1123 2s 2d in taxation in connection with last Saturdaj's meeting at Riccarton. It was made up as follow i-— Totalizator tax, £489; dividend tax, £534 9s;,stakes ta\, £63 los; and amusement tax, £35 18s 2d.
Grand Finale, an older half-brother by Last Dait to Dismiss, has had to be thrown out of work .it Wingatui. Veterinary opinion is that he will not be fit to race again for perhaps a year.
Rulanut was sold at auction in Melbourne on Januaiy 20 for 1025 guineas to Mr. T. Pierson, but the committee of the Victoria Racing Club lias declined to lift the ban on the acceptance of his entry for*races.
Last year "Jackie"' Weshope lode 302 winners in the Umtcd States. Earl Poiter, another American jockey, is i-conng ien fast this year. Up to Jauuaiy 21 he had been astride 33 winners.
The programme for the Canterburj Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting has been circulated. It provides foi an Increase in stakes iv most of the races compared with last year, dominations for the Gieat Easter and Great Autumu Handicap, w ill close next Friday. According to a southern repot t, F. D. Jones is not disposed to take any risks with Nightly, and the Night Raid colt •nill probably do little racing this autumn. His engagements include the New Zealand St. Leger and the C.J.C: Challenge Stakes, and he may run in the Riccarlon race.
Admiral Drake, who raced well in the best handicap cortfpany earlier in his career, made a poor showing in the Hornby Handicap at Kicearton last Saturday. Versant became very fresh during his holiday, and G. Holland dccideil to reeommission' him sooner than he had intended. •
.' Rcdditeh, who won the Victoria Grand National Steeplechase and Australian Steeplechase last year, has again taken up his quarters at F. W. Hoysted's stable. He was accompanied by My Talisman. Both jumpers have enjoyed a spell at Seymour and look particularly well. . .
•Diversion created a surprise last Saturday by-winning the chief event at Dargaville after competing in the previous event. This mare raced more kindly at her second attempt after a very moderate effort in the Omana Hack. She is to be given a course of schooling with a view to contesting hurdle-events, and as she has previously shown ability to jump well she may,develop into a very useful hurdler. Tout le Monde was staying on well in the Post Handicap at Riccarton. last Saturday. It was his first race since November, when he had a severe fall while' contesting the Metropolitan Handicap. That was the start of a run of misfortune, as_ other mishaps delayed his reappearance. His latest performance was a good one under, the circumstances, and he may be on the winning list again, before long.
