LONDON MARKET FIRM
The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received its weekly cable from London, dated February 23, advising that the butter market is firm with the retail prices unchanged. Wholesale quotations are:—New Zealand, salted and unsalted, 72s to 73s per cwt (which equals approximately 8.29 d per lb, f.0.b.); Australian, salted, 70s; Danish, spot, 100s. The butter stock position is as follows: Feb. 23, Feb. 23, 1934. 1933. XT rr , , T°llS- T °"S. New Zealand 7290 -" 6748 Australian 7087 The Imperial Economic Committee's estimated stocks of all butters comprise 750,000 boxes, compared with 819,799 at the same time last year. . The cheese market is also firm, with the retail prices unchanged. Wholesale quotations are:—New Zealand, white, 44s to i 44s 6d per cwt (which equals approxiI mately 4.65 d per lb, f.0.b.); coloured, 46s 6d to 475; Canadian, white and coloured, 52s to 545; English .finest fanners', 90s to 945.
The board has also received the following advice from its agents in Canada:— 'Butter, New York, 26 cents: Montreal 29Vi cents." ■
