M,r. J. G. Moody, Duncdin, arrived from the south this morning. The funeral took place at Hastings yesterday afternoon of Mr. Keith Gooday, late of the State Advances Department, Wellington, who died suddenly this week. The late Mr. Gooday, who was a siglo man, 28 years of age, had been employed in the correspondence department of the State Advances Office for the past ten years. He was one of the most popular of the younger members of the staff, and his un.expectcd death came as a, great shock to his many friends in the office. Ho was a member of the Bidwell Street Tennis Club, and took a keen interest, in all phases of the sport. He was an old boy of the Hastings High School, and a son of Mr. and the late Mrs. C. P. Gooday, St. George Road, Hastings. The funeral was attended by some of'the late Mr. Gooday's office colleagues, and the esteem of the Department was shown by a laTge wreath. Mr. W. E. Brough, who has been transferred from tho Wellington Magistrate's Court to the Ashburton Magistrate's Court, was farewcllcd by his Wellington colleagues before he left for the south last night. Mr. F. Knight, Clerk of the Court,, expressed regret at Mr. Brough Js departure, and wished him good luck in his new sphere of activity. A suitable presentation ' was made on behalf of the members of the Court staff, and Mr.-Brough. replied.
