Sullivan, M.P.), was-held today- 'to discuss unemployment relief wages. , The following resolutions were carried:— .; . ■•■■.'■ /,' "That'this'conference of representatives of local bodies, strongly urges tho TJilemployment Board to reconsider its. decision" not to restore the vlO per: cent!' cut in relief wages in view of the fact that tho present relief rates of-wages are not^adequate to maintain even the normal "standard of living. . : ''That the Government, be asked to convene a conference of representatives of the Public Works Department, the Main Highways Board,'the Unemployment Board, and 'local..bodies, with; a yiowto a scheme being: formulated for use 'throughout .New; Zealand ;to enable ■ the unemployed to be . given an increased' number of days' work each week on standard wages on useful and necessary work." . . . ; . * :?
