DENNIS DISPUTE
ASSOCIATION AND LEAGUE '■■■;■ ■ . ■ \ Exception'is taken by. Mr. G. Nelson, president of tho Wellington Lawn Tennis League, to statements reported to have been made concerning tho league at last evening's meeting of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association. 'During the current season," said Mr. Nelson in a statement supplied to "Tho Post," ''efforts have been made to arrange for tho affiliation of the league with tho association, and these culminated in a meeting between delegates from the two committees, when tho position was stated frankly from both sides. In spite of the statement made by the association secretary, there was nothing said to indicate that tho loague is averse to affiliation if a suitable financial arrangement can bo arrived at. As the delegates of neither body were empowered to mako definite proposals, the meeting concluded on the understanding that the matter would be discussed by tho association committee, which would forward definite proposals to the league, which would call a general meeting of all club representatives and take what action was considered in. the best interests of the league. "The' assertions of the association that the league would not consider affiliation at any price is therefore misrepresenting the position, as no .definite basis of affiliation has been proposed by the association."
