Several thousand Tungans besieged in the citadel of. Kashgar by Republican troops made a successful sortie at the weekend, simultaneously ■with an attack by a thousand Tungan-i troops on the flank of the Government forces, -who retired in disorder. Khojaniaz Haji, the President, and the Premier and members of the Government, -with, a number of troops, fled the ' country. , .... . No fighting or looting is reported in ! Kashgar. The Tungaus are believed i to favour a Chinese Republic. i
