WORLD'S SHIPBUILDING IN

1933

LONDON, January 31. The world's output of shipbuilding in 1933 was the lowest since the first issue of Lloyd's returns in 1888. According to the annual returns 330 ships were launched in tho world, totalling 459,016 tons. b

The leading countries were:—Britain and Ireland; 133,115 tons; America, 10,771 tons; Trance, 34,073; Germany 42,195; Japan, 74,290; Italy, 16.560; Sweden, 00,860; Holland, 35,880: Denmark, 34,016.

The decrease in the world's output compared with 1932 amounts to 237,575 tons, of which the United States shows a huge decrease of 132,788 tons. The

British output was 27.2 per cent, of the total world output, compared with. 25.8 per cent, in 1932. The .world output of oil tankers was 82,675 tons, and of motor-ships 289,096 tons.
