(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, This Day. Eenewed protests against the delay in clearing intercolonial ships at Auckland was heard at the Chamber of Com-mcj-ce meeting today. On Tuesday, owing to boisterous weather tho Wa'nganella, which arrived at 7 a.m., could not be berthed till 9 a.m. Then an hour's delay occurred while the doctor and Customs officials carried out their duties. .
Mr. H. E. Vaile said that the medical inspection was a farce.
The President (Mr. Harvey Turner) agreed, and said the ship's doctor should be in a position to certify as to tho. health of the ship. All that the port doctor did was to parade the passengers before him, according to a list given him. If one was missing, ,the inspection was held up till he was found.
Mr. D. Carter said tho medical delay was less serious than the delay caused by the Customs, who would not release passengers until the whole number had been passed.
It was resolved to draw the Government's attention again to the position,
