SUMMER AGAIN

PERFECT WEATHER

After haying produced nearly .every, kind of weather under the sun, January seems to have remembered that it is supposed to be a summer month, and for its last couple of days has produced something more an accordance with the usually accepted idea of summer weather. Today's forecast indicates that this welcome revival of summer conditions is likely to continue "a bit longer. Fine and warm weather with light moderate easterly to northerly winds is likely to be general in all parta of the Dominion, except to the north of Auckland. ; There winds will be strong, gale force being reached at times, and the weather cloudy with light rain in places. ! The anticyclonic- control of New Zealand's weather is no less pronounced today than it was yesterday, barometer readings at the Chatham 'Islands still being as high as 30.5 inches. Pressure distribution over the^ Dominion is now rather more uniform than it was yesterday. The weather from Auckland northward has been rather cloudy with light rain in a few places, and easterly winds have been strong or of gale force in that area. The weather, too, has been cloudy between Hawke's Bay and. East Cape, but elsewhere iit has been very fine with moderate to warm temperatures. Winds generally have been light to moderate easterlies to northeasterlies. . Auckland's weather yesterday was cloudy to'overcast, the easterly breeze being strong in exposed places. Of the main centres Auckland fared worst yesterday as far as its weather was concerned. Wellington had a beautifully fine day, although there was some cloud in,the afternoon. Today, however, conditions have been, still better, yesterday's moderate north-easterly breeze having given place to light and variable airs. Temperatures have been decidedly warmer, although there was a considerable drop last night. Christchurch has had fair to cloudy and mild weather with a strong breeze from the north-east. Dunedin had n beautifully fine and sunny day yesterday with a light wind from the north-east.
