Thompson .and Moore started brilliantly against Perry and Hughes, and had set point for p. two-set lead. Then Moore missed the simplest of smashes. Thompson played great tennis throughout, but Moore was nbt experienced enough. Hughes's retrieving in this match was amazing. Dunlop and Angas were outclassed by the South Australians. ' Tho New Zealander was the weakest of the four. He was frequently caught with the ball at his feet as he failed to come far enough into the net on his service, which he repeatedly; dropped. Miss Wilson caused surprise by eliminating Mrs. Westacott, the strong Queeniland champion.
