EASY WIN FOR HOLDERS

(Special to the "Evening Post.") NELSON. January 20. The Nelson Cricket Association's representatives retained the Newman Shield against Motucka's challenge by defeating Motucku by an innings and 71 runs. ■ f Motueka's first innings realised 233 tho chief scorers being H. Fowler 65, R. Bowers 33, and J. Clark 58. Nelson's opening pair, 11. K. Kavsten and E. K. Neale, put up a magnificent partnership of 218 before the former was run out at 97. Ncale completed liis - century and went on to 122 before he was dismissed, j A, Newman, who went in second wicket, was also responsible for a fine century innings, his total being the same 4s Ncalo's. Nelson's ' score reached 4G2. Motucka.commenced their second innings' with a deficit of 239, and four wickets fell | for 20. Six were down for 60, when Clark and R.
