SEVENTY PER CENT. PAID

Yesterday was the last day on which a discourit was available on the payment of the current year's rates at Upper Hutt, and the Town Clerk "(Mr. R. C Major) reported today that the'rates were coming in in a.very satisfactory manner, 70 per cent, having been paid up to yesterday. The rates struck this financial year, which ends on* March 31, total . £10,000, and £6100 has go far been collected. The outstanding rates totalled £4590, : and of these £1135 has been collected to date,so £7200 has been collected in rates altogether. '
