INSURANCE SCHEME PROPOSAL

ASHBUETON, January 9. At a meeting of farmers who sustainod loss of crops through the hail last Friday, resolutions .were passed urging (1) that Government officials advise immediately as to tho economic utilisation of tho residue of the crops; (2) that tho Wheat Purchase Board be asked, in view of the likely deficiency and damage through storm and other agencies, to consider the question of increasing^the pay-out for the season; (3) that tho United Wheat Growers' Association be urged to consider formulating an insurance scheme by means of a levy on all wheat grown.

A small committee was formed to approach the Government in an. endeavour to arrange financial assistance and other matters.
