HIDES AND SKINS.
Auckland sale of hides and skins yesterday attracted a full attendance of buyers. Ox hides were in keen demand, but cow hides were not so eagerly sought for, and as a consequence many of these lines were passed. There was good competition for' sheepskins, and late rates were fully maintained. Following are quotations:—Sheepskins: Dry: Fine crossbred, B%d per lb; medium crossbred, 6%d; coarse crossbred, 6%d; half to three-quar-ter wool, 4%d; quarter to half wool, 4cl; quarter wool, 4d; lambs, 7%d; pelts, 4d. Salted: Best, 6s 3d to 7s each; good, 5s 6d to 6s; medium, 4s to Ss 6cl; lambs, 2s 6d to 2s Bd. Hides: Abattoirs: Extra heavy ox, 6%d per lb; heavy, 6%d; ! medium, 6d; light, 6d; kip, 6 7-8 d; good calf, B*/4d. Country butchers: Extra heavy ox, G l-8d per lb; heavy, 6 l-8d; medium, 6d; kips, sd; yearlings, 6%d; best calf, B%d; good, BUd; inferior, and damaged, 5d to 6',id. Lines of heavy hides were passed at i 5-8 dto 59id.
