BRITAIN'S ATTITUDE
IN EVENT OF DECLARATION
STATEMENT TO BE MADE

It is understood that Cabinet today approved'a reply to the Note recently received hy the Secretary for the Dominions (llr. J. 11. Thomas) from Mr. do Valera, President of the Executive .Council-oil tho Irish Free: State. The Noto 'asked for a statement regarding the- British (jovernnient'a attitude towards the declaration of an Irish Republic. The terms of the reply will bo disclosed in both Houses of Parliament tomorrow. In .the Houso, of 'Commons a statement will bo, made in reply to a question and in the bouse of Lords the subject will be raised by Lord Danesfort, who Will ask whether, in viaw of Mr. de Valera's recent demand that the British Government should acquiesce in *the declaration by the, Free State of a Republic; the Government will undertake ■ that it will not tolerate any interference with the status of Irish. Loyalists.
