Excelsior Lodge,—A.D. Bro. Carlsen preHded over a good attendance. D.P. Bro. Bray, No. 2 District, attended in his official capacity, and also the Eoyal Arch Chapter examiners, Bros, Kelko and Willis. The bards reported on sick members and sick pay amounting to £44 17s and accounts were passed for payment. The election of officers resulted as follows;—A.D., Bro. W. H.. Lepper; V.A., Bro. Stobart; J.P.A., Bro. Carlsen; 1.G., Broi Williams, jun.; 0.G., Bro. Jones; A.D., Bards, Bros. Jennings and I. Willianisj; V.A. Bards, Bros. Gameson aud Porter; M.S., Bro. Edmonds; organist, Bro. King; delegates were reappointed for a further term. The secretary, Bro. Gauntletfcjr- reported on the activities of the Medical:,-Institute and the Royal Arch Chapter. Cooper, N.G., presided over a fair attendance. A special committee whicli had been appointed reported on the work of the lodge. One application for membership was received, and an investigation committee was appointed. ■ " MANCHESTER UNITY. Loyal Britannia Lodge.^-Bro. L. Withy, N.G;, presided over a splendid attendance. Two candidates were initiated. Sick visitors' reports were received and payments authorised. Bro. Stewart reported on the doings of the U.F.S. Dispensary. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term:—N.G., Bro. W. H. Kraft; V.G., Bro. Jt. "C; Spring; E.S., Bro. R. Wickens; Warden, Bro. C. F. Mori; Guardian, Bro. W. R. Treadwell; 1.P.N.G., Bro. L. Withey; L.M., Bro. S. Park; conductor, Bro. J. W. Harper. Loyal Combination Lodge.—The quar> terly summoned meeting was held recently At Johnsonville, when Bro. C. Wilton presided over a fair attendance. The usuali sick reports were received and payments! passed. A report was received on the results of the recent ritual contest for the P.G. Shield and Jewels. The installation; of the nfiwly-elected officers was proceeded with, Bro. A. C. Blair, D.G.M., acting as installing officer, assisted by Sis. MeFariane, Bros. CO. Jorgeusen and G. Bell, of the district management committee. The following officers were installed: N.G., Bro. Gandy; V.G., Sis. J. Wilton;. L.M,, Sis. A. Rothme; 1.P.N.G., Bro. C. Wilton; Guardian, Sis. Gandy. At the conclusion ■of lodge business and after a Welcome had been accorded visitors, the meeting adjourned for table tennis. Rose.of thei Valley Lodge.-^-Bro. Withington was the presiding officer. It was decided that the annual Christmas tree party, for members' children under the age of 10 be held as'usual. Bro. Morris was elected a member of the hospital committee. Knock; Warden,1, Sis. Shotter; Guardian, Si's. Williams; conductors, Sisters Reynard, and Johnson; pianist, Sis. Couper. ■ Past Grands Lodge.—The judges, Bros. Russell, Williams, and Holt, reported on their decisions in the recent ritual competition. There was an exceptionally large gathering to hear the result. Loyal Rose of the-Valley Lodge, Lower Hutt, were the winners. The. shield was presented to the winners by P.D.G.M. Bro. F. Dennis, Winners of jewels were N.G. Bro. "Westbrook (Loyal Moera Lodge), I.P.N.G. Sis. Davis (Rose of the Valley ! Lodge), and L.M. Sis. Z. Douglas (Sister Wallis Lodge). These presentations were made by Sis: R. Bell on behalf of P.D.G.M. Bro. G. Turner. Votes of thanks were passed to Bro. Turner, the donor of the jewels, and the judges. The Grand Master, Bro. W. 'B. Brown, congratulated the winners and. gave an address on M:U. activities during the past year. Among the visitors were many representatives from Wairarapa and Manawatu Lodges, who were, accorded a welcome. At the «onclusion>of the more important business the rest of the evening was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Sis. Couper and Bro. W. S. Leggett. . Loyal Newtown Lodge.—Bro. W. All- , cock was the presiding officer. The following officers were elected for the new term:—Lecture Master, Bro. S. E. Eades; I.P.NXJ., Bro. G. Leggett; N.G.,.8r0. A. Rhodes; V.G., Bro. J. A challenege was issued to Loyal Kilbirnie Lodge for the Telford "500" Cup. Bros. H. P. Webb, B. Bell, G. Bell, Gaby, Dumbleton, G. Neilsen, and J. Wyley were appointed a special committee to go into the matter of assisting members who had become nnfinancial owing-to unemployment. Harmony concluded the evening. GRAND UNITED ODDFELLOWS. Star of Newtown Branch.—Sis. Murphy, N.G., presided over a fair attendance. Bro. McQueen, D.M., installed the newlyelected treasurer, Sis. Griffiths. One canjdidate came.up for initiation.
