CARNEGIE CORPORATION GRANT
In Mai'ch last the Carnegie Corporation of New York appointed a committee, toneisting of Professor Hunter (convener), Mr. Milner, and Mr. Kae, to report on a proposal to establish in New Zealand a Council for Educational. Research. The committee reported in August and Professor Hunter has just received word from New York that the Carnegie Corporation has decided to found the Research Council and'provide it with an annual grant of 17,500 dollars for five years. The corporation ia inviting the following to constitute the first council: Professors Gould, Hunter, Shelley, Messrs. C. C. Gilray, F. Milner,' D. M. Kae, T. U. Wells. As soon as possible a meeting of the council will be held and steps takea to organise branches in the main centres. ■ . . '
