CHICAGO, November 28.

Fire broke out in the stockyards today, endangering .thousands: of cattle, hogs, and sheep left over in the pens as a result of the strike by the livestock handlers.

Twenty-five :fire companies are combating the flames.

Operations at the union stockyards have been paralysed by a strike of the Livestock Handlers' Union. It is estimated that 7000 men^are striking. The strikers demand the return of 1919 wages. Many arc reported to be getting weekly cheques of only 7 dollars 50 cents to 12 dollars 50 cents. Some 40,000 hogs, 16,000 cattle, and 17,000 sheep are already awaiting unloading.
