Among many happy ' disclosures in ! Edgar Middloton's book "H.R.H." is that of King Edward's deep attachment to his grandson Edward, for whom ht» arranged that his first pocket money should be a shilling a week. The book reveals that at the age of eight ho often discussed with his grandpa the relative merits of becoming a policeman or an engine driver. As a schoolboy Edward had. to explain to his grandma tho reason for a black eye. "One of the chaps Royal Hlghnesscd me, so I had to teach him," ho said. On another occasion the Prince fought;. a schoolfellow for half an hour in tho dormitory because "ho accused me of swank for referring to my grandfather as the King."
