Police and summons cases in the Magistrate's Court today were • dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M. John Paton Hardy, aged 29, and Isabella Jean Hardy, aged' 23, were jointlycharged with'the theft of a-cape valued at £2, the property of Leah Dyer.' They were further remanded until November 24, bail being renewed. . .

For allowing a chimney to. catch, fire* Abraham Frederick Jones was corivicted and' discharged. For being idle and disorderly persons, in that they habitually consorted with' reputed thieves and persons having no.laiv ful means of support, Arthur Thompson, aged 52, a labourer, Hedry Edward, Jefferd, aged 63, a labourer, and James. Ward, aged 46,' a labourer, were^ each sentenced to three- months' imprisonment, and Thomas Moran, aged 46, a fireman,' and William George Hall, aged-44, ■ cook, were each .sentenced to one month's imprisonment.
