GLENSIDE WATER SUPPLY

The fact that the water supplied to the Public Works camp and a few residences at the north end of the Tawa Flat tunnel would be available to the residents of Glenside when the Public Works Department discharged all. hands working at that end of the tunnel, was brought under the notice of the Makara County Council .A letter was • received • from Mr. P.,C. Watt, of the Watt Construction Co., Ltd., stating that included in the plant'which would be removed was 6000 ft of 3in water pipe, and he. thought that the Public Works Department would accept a reasonable'offer for ; the pipes. There was an unlimited' supply of excellent water, from a natural spring on Mr. Tullock's property, and there were a great number ,of additional residents anxious to connect up with the supply if it could be retained. The supply was of vital importance to the district, and if the council' considered purchasing the pipes it could levy a rate on that portion of the district receiving direct benefit from the supply. It was decided to suggest to Mr. Watt that he call a meeting of the residents and then approach the .council.
