CONVERSION OF MOTOR-CAR
At present serving a sentence of five years' imprisonment for a serious assault at Himatangi, Lindsay Edist Edward Garner, aged 23, a panel beater appeared in the Magistrate's Court today on a charge of converting to his own use the car in which he made the journey from Wellington to Himatangi. He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced by Mr. E. Page, S.M., to three months' imprisonment, the sentence to be concurrent with the ono he is already serving.
Detective-Sergeant L. Kcvcll said that at about 8 p.m. on June 30 Mr. A. L. Blackwall left his car in Mercer Street, and when he returned three-quarters of an hour later it was gone. Investigations by Detective Long revealed that tho accused had driven the car to Himatangi. The car had been recovered in good order.
