BISHOP OF DTJNEDIN
RESIGNATION ANNOUNCED

Bishop Richards, Anglican Bishop of Duncdin since 1920,' who has been in ill health for some time, has resigned.
The Rt. Rev. Isaac Richards, D.D., -was born in Lincolnshire, England, in 1859, and was educated at tho Wesleyan College, Taunt on, and at Exeter College, Oxford.. He was ordained deacon in 1822, and was raised to the priesthood in the following year. He was curate at St. Paul's Church, Truro, in 1882, and received an appointment as curate of St. Mark's, Auckland, in 1886. He was warden of Selwyn College, Dunedin, in 1885, and became vicar of Tuapeka in 1900, and vicar of St. John's, Invercargill in 1916. His next appointments before being made bishop were as canon of St. Paul's Cathedral, • Dunedin, and archdeacon successively of Qucenstown and Invercargill. His publications include "The Church in Danger" (1912) and "The Lord and Giver of Life." Bishop Richards has always been keenly interested, in cricket. He captained the eleven of his college at Oxford, and after coming out to New Zealand hewas an Auckland representative player. He has also played in Dunedin, being a good wicket-keeper. The resignation was received at a .meeting of tho standing committee of the Anglican Diocese. The date of resignation has nofc been fixed.
