STAND COLLAPSES
A section of a temporary wooden stand suddenly collapsed at the Epsstrevor Street courts, Hamilton, on Saturday, afternoon, during the" progress of exhibition tennis matches ■, in which the 'touring English players were appearing, says the Hamilton correspondent of the "New Zealand Herald." About 150 people were thrown to the ground,, but there was .only one ease of comparatively serious . injury, Miss Irene Collier,, of No. 1 Bridge, receiving a fracture of the ankle. Several other .people suffered minor' injuries, chiefly leg abrasions. ]..'.;. ;
■ Play was resumed after "an interrup-tion-of only ten minutes. A subsequent' inspection revealed that the framework-supporting the temporary extension had collapsed completely.- '~-■■ ' ' ......
