AUCKLAND, November 6,

A gale which swept Auckland this morning caused considerable damage to gardens and. orchards. The wind abated towards midday, and conditions in the afternoon were much improved. Tho gale was also experienced on the west coast and continued''until evening. . The weather was rough at sea, and the steamer Kia Ora, which was due at noon today from Wellington, did not arrive until this evening, having met tho storm in the Bay of Plenty.
