SPECIAL EELIEF WORKS
AUCKLAND LOAN RAISED

AUCKLAND, November 6. After a number of unexpected delays, the Mayor (Mr. G. W. Hutchison) has succeeded in arranging for a city works loan of £.116,000 at 4 1-8 per cent., for the, employment of a number of the present relief workers at standard rates of pay. The'money has been made available by the Australian Mutual Provident Society, and a programme of works will be put in hand almost immediately. Tho works on tho schedule Vill require about 250 men, and will take two and a half-years to complete. In addition, many will be. employed in the supply, of materials.
