Meprisant, making one of his occasional appearanaes, quite outclassed the poor field of five opposed to him in the Epsom Handicap, the final event of the day. With hie former sfcablemate Riri he shared the doubtful honour of being outsider of the field, but there was no form on which one could support him, as. hia last race was when he ran unplaced in the 6ame event twelve months ago. He is still owned by his breeder, Mr. 6. Murray Aynsley, and he is now seven years old. White Doe set out to make the pace, and was well' clear at one stage, being three lengths in front of Miladi arid Argentic at the half-mile, with Ranelagh; Meprisant, and Riri following. Miladi, not used to being kept up to the bit; was beaten at the three furlongs, and Meprisaut, was almost up with White' Doe and Argentic.at the straight entrance. Meprisant shot away at the false rail, and he won as he liked by five lengths from Argentic. ' '■'■■','
It was a one-horse race over: the last two furlongs, the winner making common hacks of hia rivals.' Argentic, whoeo only recent race since his' resumption 'was at Motukarara,1 proved easily best of the others. Ranelagh finished over a beaten lot to take third money two. lengths behind Argentic. White Doe weakened; into fourth place, with Miladi and Riri bringing up the rear.. .
