FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.

The director of the Horticulture Division .has received the followitig report, from the Wellington fruit inspector on the condition of locally-grown fruit and vegetables in eh ops and auction rooms, and its market condition in Wellington for the month of October. Medium supplies of cool stored apples have been arriving on this market during the month in'fair condition, l'ears offering in limited quantities and are realising good values.' The condition generally has been good. Strawberries —Small consignments of good quality have realised high prices. Gooseberries are now' coming forward in small lots with a satisfactory demand.

Vegetables of most classes, have been in good supply, with spring cabbage, green peas, and new potatoes now arriving in increased quantities. The quality and packing generally have been satisfactory, and Rood average prices are being obtained. Prices are as follows:—Apples, Stunners 9s to 10s 6d per bushel case, Delicious 8s 6d to 10s 6d, Dougherty 6s Cd to Bs, .Rome Beauty 7s to 8s; pears, Winter Coles 13s to 15s 6d, Winter Nelis lls to 13s, P. Barry 10s to 13s; lemons, 8s to 10s per case; passions, 16s to 23s per box; cucumbers, hothouse 5s Gd to 8s per dozen; tomatoes, hothouse 24s Cd to 28s per case; gooseberries, 8s to 8s 6d per half-ease; strawberries, Is 3d to 2s per punnet; asparagus, 4d to 8d per bunch; cauliflowers. 6s to lls per sack; cabbage, 2s to 3s 3d per banann case; spinach, 4s to 7s per banana case; lettuce, 3s to 6s per banana Rise; leeks, 5d to 8d per bunch; spring onions, 8d to Is 9d; beetroot, 2fi to 3s per banana ense; rhubarb, Is to 2s 3d per heap of 3 bunches; carrots, 6s to 10s per sack; parsnips, 7s to lls; pumpkins. 12b to 14s;' green peas, 2d to 4d per lb;'potatoes, £4 to £5 per ton; potatoes, new, l%d to 2%d per lb; onions, 10s per crate and 8s to 9s .per cental bag.
