Accounts of the Yokohama Specie Bank for the half-year eflded June 30 last show net' profit of % £750,957 ion the conversion basig of the yen at 2a.. \ The sum cleared compares with £708,217 netted.on operations during the December half of last year and with £634,942 for the June half of 1932. ,
From the closing half1 of last year £585,946 was brought foVward in profit and loss account, the aggregate for appropriation on June 30 last amounting to £1,336,903. The directors .-propose that £150,000 be added to the reserves fund and that dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum—the' customary- basis o£ disbursements—be paid, requiring £500,000, And leaving £686,903 to be carried forward to the account for the current halfyear. In the latest financial statement, the general reserve is shown to total £11,975,000r besides which there is a reserve of £347,123 forbad and doubtful debts. Notes in circulation represented on June 30 last, £526,344. Deposits moved downwards during the twelve months from £66,282,731 to £59,865,310, and bills payable, etc.. upwards from £38,878,4)53 to £49,849,282. Apart from bullion and foreign money representing £307,173, cash : totalled £7,923,280, as against £11,496,284 at the end of June, 1932. Investments in pubho securities and debentures at £35,956,085, compare with £41,019,891 a year.v earlier, and advances, etc., at £48,591,164, with £41,067,479, in addition to which there, was £38,841,299 represented by bills receivable, etc., ad against £33,489,644/ Premises, etc., are shown at a valuation of" £2,281,680, which compares with £2,282,982.
