VICTORIA DERBY

HALL MARK'S GREAT RACE

Coiled Press Association —By Electric- Tele-

SYDNEY, This Day.

■' The ' .if Sydney Morning Herald," commenting on the Victoria Derby, says:—"From third to last to runaway victory would seem an almost impossible achievement, but Hall Mark definitely proved his claims to be the outstanding three-year-old of the day by such a marvellous performance in the •Victoria Derby. Hall Mark was going just as strongly, passing the judge, as when he began his phenomenal run. <His time, too, startled the crowd, equalling Phat Lap's record, which was certainly not expected, considering the force of the wind. Hall Mark e6vered himself .with glory. "Blixten was a sad disappointment; He also was a long way back in the early part of the race, and did not get by any means as clear a run as Hall Mark, but over the last two furlongs he was unable- to respond to any material extent, and was actually putstayed by Miramond.

"Palphar did much better than was although he had no chance with the winner in the straight. Triyento did not look like winning at any stage. In fact the field was simply outclassed byiHall Mark."
