MIRAMAR BAND BENEFIT

A very successful concert was given yesterday in the ■ Kilbirnie ; Kinema in. aid of the Mirama* Silver and the Kilbirnie. branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association.' The artists who assisted the band in completing .the programme very well received, and Miss Jean Cerchi was very popular. Her song in, character "To. a Miniature" was very attractive. .Mr. j'W. McLean's violin playing ,made a deep impression on the audience. Miss Kythe Maciver's sweet voice was heard to advantage the solo "Trees," by Basbach. ' A comet solo given by. Mr. W. G. ■ Stevenson was played with artistry. A piccolo solo "The Wren" was played by Miss, Turner-Cottier accompanied softly by the band. -Mr. Stan Croft, the well- known basso, gave a fine rendering of Bruhn's "The Miner." Under the baton of Mr. Alex. Sutherland, the Miramar Band/ opened with tho hymn "Sandon," and the inarch "The Ocean Star." Other items given by the band were "Selections from 'Fia, Diavolo,'" (Auber), "Juliana" (Gibbs), "Minstrel Songs" fantasia (Raymond), and the march "Carlisle." Mrs. Webb was at tho piano. Another concert will be given in the theatre on November 19>
