SAILORS TO THE RESCUE
A recent message from Belgrade stated that an ovation was given to British bluejackets when they returned, to their ships weary and sadly lacking their usual smart appearance, the result of an all-night fight with a forest fire*. The- fire broke out in the magnificent cypress forests of a Dalmatian., peninsula, and sailors from the British warships of the Mediterranean Fleet, which, was anchored not far from the peninsula, rushed to the scene with firefighting apparatus. After a. long struggle the flames were mastered. Tha services of the sailors were.requisitioned a second time, when the fire broke out again, but it was eventually estin* guished and the most beautiful forests of the Dalmatian coast were saved from, destruction.; The gratitude of the people was unbounded, being equalled only by their admiration for the jolly, "Jack Tars."
