SAVED AGAIN BY BACKERS
EMPTY CITY COFFERS FILLED
NEW YORK, October 31. The city once again has been saved from acute financial embarrassment and inability, to-, meet the city payrolls, when backers under the financing agreoment today put 25,000,000 dollars at the comptroller's disposal.. Thirty-seven banks' supplied the money at 4 per cent. This enabled the payment of teachers, hospital staffs, and police, who recently more than once have been faced by empty city coffers.
