REVUE COSTUMES

GAY COLOUR SCHEMES

In .producing the Wellington Musical Comedy and Dramatic Society's revue, "Chas'in' the Blues," which commenced, a three-night iseas^n at the Concert Chamber last evening, Mr. David Dcvitt paid much i attention to effective frocking. The peasant blue and , whit© satin sailor suits and jaunty caps of half the ensembles were a striking contrast to the white suits and bell-sleeved blouses of georgette worn by the other half. Miss Kathleen Ferris,' in hw\ song and dance numbers, wore some charming frocks. In "The Maxim Girl" she appeared in a gown of cherry taffeta with a high halter collar bf silver sequins, a small cap of scquinned taffeta, and also scquinned gauntlets. Picture frocks of fully flounced organdie in pastel shades worn by the chorus, anci the-ballet'frocks were of shaded rose organdie with blue roses upon their short full skirts. In ''Wild Bose" Miss Ferris \yora peach georgette, with sash and deep back outlined with deep peach velvet, ribbon tied at the waist. A full fanshaped overskirt of chiffon, sprayed with gbldon sunflowers, was' an attractive feature of the powder blue ruched gown worn in "Pretty Things.". Miss' Kathleen Beid and Miss Avice Nolan,.in the "Staircase Tap," wore short frocks of cerise .cir.o satin, and later; in a dance trio with Messrs. Charles Stewart and Alfred Smith, Miss Beid appeared in a smart black kilt-skirt with a' Eussian blouse of marigold satin. The many other choruses and dances presented showed extremely attractive frocking and were a great credit to the costume mistress. .
