The Overseas Shipowners wish to call public attention to the fact that in these bad times they have already made reductions on other classes of- cargo totalling £300,000 per annum in the endeavour to assist New Zealand producers, and the only hope the shipowners have of mini■mising these sacrifices is by greatly increased trade between the United Kingdom and the Dominion.

Contracts for the carriage of butter and cheese and frozen meat for the next three years at reduced freight rates have already been referred to and are in operation, with savings to producers of about. £180,000 on meat and £124,000 on butter and cheese.
