TARIFF ON BLUE

Following the hearing in Christehureh .aS a PPlicati°n by the Manufacturers Federation for an alteration in the tariff on washing blue from Id to 20 per cent., additional information was given before the Commission yesterday by Stanley Beyuon Harris, representing Beckitts Blue. ' _ No alteration was sought in the existing tariff, as it was considered that the discrepancy in the prices of Eeckltts and New Zealand products, together with the question of quality safeguarded the interests of the former party. Cross-examined by Mr. A. E. Maunder, for the Manufacturers' Federation, the witness said ho would not admit that his company had formerly held a monopoly, or that it had exploited the public. If it were necessary ho could furnish tho Commission with the production costs.
