DOING PLENTY OF WORK

Although allowed to forgo their engagements at the Ohinemuri Meeting, the stablemates Chief Cook and Chief Clerk are-getting through plenty of usefulwork at Ellerslie and both horses are in firstrate condition. . i Chief Cook's form -at the recent Avon'lale Meeting was most encouraging, more so on account of the fact that it was his Srst race for several months, and he is likely to do even better in the future. Chief Clerk also displayed plenty of speed in bis race at Avondale, and as the result of that showing appeals as a likely prospect, for a hack race later on. Both these horses are engaged at the Auckland Meeting next week, and it will not be for want of condition if they fail to earn some stake money at that fixture. ' ■
