O'Brien (Labour, Wcstland) gave notice1 to ask tho Minister in Charge of tho Inspection of Machinery Act, if he would bring in an amendment to that Act for tho purpose of removing existing anomalies. Under the Inspection of Machinery Act as it was'at present constituted the holder of a winding engine-driver's certificate might drive a very large two cylinder winding engine, and perhaps raise and lower hundreds of men per day in a mine shaft; but if one cylinder of the engine were coupled to a sawmill the same certificate would not bo allowed to tako charge of it. The same applied to a locomotive engine-driver's certificate, which would allow a driver to drive a locomotive drawing a train, but would not allow him to do so if the sarno engine was used as a stationary engine, (Proceeding.)
