NO CAUSE FOR PANIC
(British Offld»l WlrelM».) (Received October 21, 11 a.m.)' RUGBY, October 20. Sir Samuel Hoare (Secretary ft India), speaking at Chelsea last night said that during the past few day* there had been very disturbing events in Europe, and' there were scaremakers who wanted to make everyone believe that we were on the verge of a great European war. We had to keep to the facts, and the factg were that Britain had set an example of disarmament, in. cessantly pursued a policy of peace, and made most practical proposals for a general reduction of armaments and the restoration of equality of status to Germany. In this matter the Cabinet was fully unanimous, and Sir John Simon, to whom he wished 'to pay, tribute for the service h© had rendered to the cause of disarmament and peace, had received the unanimous support of Cabinet. The Minister added:' "We shall continue to proceed on thes» lines to carry out our Treaty obliga* tions, and there is no cause for panic, but a need for cool heads, and common sense." . . .
