LIQUOR AND A CAR
A' fine of .£3O and the cancellation" of his driving licence for . two yparii were the penalties imposed upon Leonard Norman "Williams, aged-38, a company manager, who was convicted •by Mr. W. F. IStilwell,. &.M., in. the Magistrate's Court today of having been found in a state ,of intoxication while in charge' of amotto-car. ■"' H» had been convicted of the same off enca in 1931. . •■■•■•... Detective-Sergeant Eevell said that Detective-Sergeant Tricklebank had found tho defendant in Sydney ■■ Street West on a recent evening, in charge of a car and drunk. His car had collided with, a fence. ' Two doctors, who examined him at the central police station were of opinion that he ■ was under the influence of liquor. He- had. been fined £20 and had. had his licence cancelled in 1931 on a charge similar to the present one. - . ~ .', Williams pleaded guilty. On his_behalf, Mr. J. S. Hanna said that he had grazed a post at tho division of Sydney, Street into its upper and •lower levels. It was not a serious collision and _ it might happen to anyone at that point.
