Noad, in his opening address, thanked members for their renewed confidence in his administration of the affairs of the club by electing him president for a fourth term. He previously occupied the position of president for throe consecutive years, from 1926 to 1929. Reference was made to the deaths during the year of an old and esteemed member, Mr. Biehard Haworth and Mrs. W. Morrah, the wife of the founder of the club and only life member. In welcoming the guests and me.rnbers, the president referred to the success of the club during the past season. It was, successful in winning tho blue ribband of the New. Zealand .bowling world, the Dominion rinks championship and the Wellington Centre rinks championship. The last two honours were an:nexcd for the, first time in the club's history. .The club was also successful in winning two events in-the Wellington Centre Champion of Championships, the rinks and pairs, tlie latter for the second timo in succession. The senior pennant was also won for the first time, and tho Stansell Shield was won for the second consecutive year. This trophy is competed for annually by the Hataitai, Lyall Bay, and Seatoua-Clubs. The club also annexed the Kean trophy, donated last year-by Mr.'Frank Kean, a member of the club, for annual competition between the Lyall Bay and Seatoun Clubs. The president said he hoped members would experience another successful season, and would retain some, if not all, of the trophies it held at present. He welcomed three new members, and assured them that they would have an cxcllent coach in Mr. J. B. Lawrie. The green was in an excellent condition thanks to the unremitting care and attention of the greenkeeper (Mr._M. Powall), who was at times rendered valuable assistance by the Hataitai Club's greenkeeper (Mr. S. Tickner). Mr. Noad referred to the effort of the sports bodies, through their representatives in Parliament, to obtain an extension of the daylight saving legislation to an hour. Unfortunately, he said, they were met with considerable opposition from the farming representatives in the House, and he could not understand their attitude. Ho trusted that the time was not far distant when those who objected to the measure would listen to reason and allow the full hour to be placed on tho Statute Book. The president thanked Mrs. E. Eabbidge, president of tho Croquet Club, and her committee and the Misses Boyd for tastefully decorating tho pavilion in the club's colours, and also for the beautiful floral decorations. Mrs. Noad, th'o president's wife, sent up the jack, a silver kitty loaned by Mr. JV Brackenridge, senr., one of the oldest bowling champions of Wellington, who was asked to deliver the first bowl. The green was then declared open for play. A delightful afternoon tea was served 'mi tho pavilion by the ladies' committee. , Tho guests included Mr. R. Seniple, M.P., and Mrs. Semple.
