SOCIALIST POLICY
LEADER SENTENCED
(Received October 19, 11 a.m.) SAEEEBEOUCK, October 18. Herr Max Braun, chief'of the Sarre Socialists, and also another journalist, were sentenced to a fortnight's imprisonment on a charge of illicit distribution of political pamphlets at a meeting at which he said: "For us German Socialists the way to freedom and the Sarre's return to Germany consists of the continuation of a policy of cooperation and observance of treaty conditions. Hitlerism in eight months has deprived, us pj ihe benefits pf .eight
years' work towards a policy of understanding with the Powers and the hope of lightening the chains of Versailles. We are now placed again face to face with the Treaty."
