MORE DEPRESSIONS COMING

North of New Plymouth and Napier winds will be soujh-westerly in direction, according to today's weather forecast, but elsewhere gradually freshening north-westerly winds will be experienced. The weather at first will be fine and milder, although with showers at times in Westland and in the extreme south. The prospects at present; as far as Wellington is concerned, are for several - days of north-westerly winds and for the weather becoming gradually less settled. ~ , Except for some «oastal showers in a few places early in the morning, yesterday's weather was fine practically, everywhere in the Dominion. The southerly or south-westerly winds which' prevailed kept temperatures 'on the cool side. By this morning, however, winds in most places south of Wanganui and Castlepoint had veered' to the northwest and temperatures are now rriilder. Light rain has begun to fall in Westland and in the extreme south. An anticyclone has moved from the Tasman Sea on to the northern . part of New Zealand; but- a fresh series of westerly depressions now covers the' southern part of Australia, The first of these already is extending across the southern part of the Tasman Sea and has begun to affect the southern part of this country. Auckland had fair weather yesterday, although it was cloudy at times. A south-westerly breeze was the cause of cool temperatures. Wellington enjoyed a sunny day, temperatures being cool owing to the southerly wind. This died away in the evening and just- before midnight a northerly took its place and milder temperatures eventuated. Yesterday morning in Christchurch was cloudy to overcast with a fresh southerly wind. In the afternoon it became brighter when tho wind changed to the north-east. Dunedin in the morning had cloudy weather which at times was threatening, but the afternoon was flue. and sunny. The wind there was a light ta fiesli south-westerly,
